Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO)

CTSO is a state program that involves our character classes as a baseline for the organization and adds to the trades programs at PTEC.  CTSO is like combining guild council, student council, or National Honor Society with the students leading the organization in their chosen trade. This organization allows us to report to the state for our CTE-approved programs and follows the guidelines for a CTE-based school.

Supporting student character and leadership development, academic and career achievement, and transforming job-related skills and service with community partnerships.

Requirements to apply for the Officer Team positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Communications). The officer team should run yearly.

A student should run if:

·       They are in 10th – 12th grade  (If a student is in 12th grade, they must attend PTEC full-time.)

·       They feel they can speak in front of and support their fellow students

·       They believe that being part of this organization will not deter them from keeping up with their homework assignments and grades

·       They must have one (1) teacher recommendation of a teacher whom they have had in the past or have currently

·       If a student is not the best representative for the student body (does not follow the school expectations that have been given to the whole student body, or is written up for a behavior concern), the student will be removed from their position

Power Technical will run a CTSO schedule twice a month to allow all high school CTE classes to meet.  The first meeting will be run as a board meeting following Roberts Rules of Order (as a CTSO requirement). The second meeting in the month will allow the students to continue planning, working on, finalizing, and executing any events or community outreach projects.  We want to add team building to one of these sessions.
